2015

I've never really been bothered by the whole New Year, New You thing. To me January first was just another day. But after what I would say was one of my worst years, I'm glad to be leaving 2014 behind. At the end of 2013 I didn't think I could make it to another January or even another September. It has been hard but I did do it. Now all I have to say is that I hope 2015 is better. So here are some of the things I'd like to do in the new year

What I got for Christmas 2014

I hope everyone had a good Christmas or just 25th of December, mine was pretty good. I got a lot of the things I wanted this year for Christmas and I'm quite excited to show you so here we go:

My first gift was a new laptop (which I actually paid for half of). I've been wanting a new laptop for a very long time and it is probably going to mean more frequent or more scheduled blog posts because I don't have to share my laptop anymore.

Now, in my opinion, the most exciting presents are the books and I got five this year which are all from my list to read. Insurgent by Veronica Roth, The Manifesto on How to be Interesting by Holly Bourne, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, The Book Theif by Markus Zusak and All my Friends are Superheroes by Andrew Kaveman.

Amazingly soft Christmas pyjamas with reindeer and polar bears. The best thing about these is that they have pockets which is something I've always wanted.

I got quite a bit of chocolate this year, which is great, and the best part is the Nutella with my name on it.

A blue "I wuv hugs" t-shirt which probably looks strange to a lot of people and did to me at first because it took me a while to understand but it is a Supernatural reference.

Pink Ted Baker make up bag which I won't use for make up it will be a pencil case probably. My sister and her boyfriend bought me these white and silver, flower earrings. And I got this small Sherlock Holmes book about some of the important mysteries he's solved.

I got this pretty, flower patterned storage box and this heart cupcake stand from my Grand parents. (The box is currently holding all the chocolate I was given and the stand has jewellery on it.)

Official Phandom Member wristband. This was actually going to be a birthday present but my parents lost it and then found it on Christmas eve. (I am official phandom  member number 6384.)

Notebooks are an obvious gift for me as I'm constantly writing things down so it's always good to have more. I love these two little books because I can take them out with me and this big book which I keep in my room for when I write in the middle of the night, which is a lot.

Finally for the films I was given. Sleeping Beauty on Blu Ray was from my parents as I have never seen it and I'm looking forward to. My sister bought me The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent. One of my brothers and his girlfriend gave me The Big Bang Theory Christmas episodes which was interesting because it wasn't something I ever thought of. Last is Nativity (which I'm actually watching right now) & Nativity 2 because I just love all Christmas films.

This has been everything I got for Christmas in 2014. Comment below some of what you got because I'd love to know. That's all for now. See you in the new year, bye.

December Favourites

It is currently the 26th of December (Boxing Day) and every year my family have another Christmas day which is very exciting but I got some spare time and thought I'd write a post. It's been a fairly average month and here are my favourite things from it:

Favourite Film:

Holiday In Handcuffs. In December I try to watch as many Christmas films as possible. I especially love watching quite bad, low budget Christmas films and this one was definitely my favourite.

Favourite TV show:

Some Girls. I love this show so much and the episodes of the new series have been incredibly funny and entertaining.

Favourite Book:

Christmas For One by Amanda Prowse. I haven't actually finished this book but so far I've been loving it. At first, I didn't have very high expectations and I was only reading it because my sister told me to but it's actually been very good.

Favourite YouTube Channel:

Chewing Sand (Hazel Hayes). I've been watching Hazel for a while now and in the run up to Christmas she did a series called Collabmas which was such a good idea. My favourite of her Collabmas videos was the Festive Tag with Evan Edinger. (You can see her Channel here.)

Favourite YouTube video:
Festive Day in the Life of Dan and Phil. As you may know, Dan and Phil are my favourite YouTubers and their day in the life videos are amazing. There isn't anything I don't love about them. (You can see their festive day here.)

Favourite Song:

Gravity by Sara Bareilles. At first I found this song quite boring but now I won't listen to anything else.

Random Favourites:

Looking at Christmassy things on Pinterest.

Little Shop of Horrors at the Royal Exchange. On Christmas eve I went to the theatre with my family and it was incredible. I love everything at the Royal Exchange but this play was definitely the best I've seen.
Eddie. About a week ago my family bought a puppy called Eddie and he's been an amazing edition to my month. I thought he deserved a mention because he's been a very good part life recently.

So this has been my December favourites. (It's actually no longer boxing day as I didn't have chance yesterday to finish writing.) Comment below some of your favourites from this month, that's all for now. Hope to see you next time, bye.

Top Five Christmas Films

Today I thought I would share with you my top five Christmas films. It's been difficult to just pick five but I think I'm confident in the list now.

5.

Scrooge- I love this film so much, mostly because of the songs.

Chocolate Snowball Recipe

Every year in my house we make chocolate snowballs which are amazing and for a long time I thought my mum had invented them but turns out it is a Gloria Hunniford recipe. Despite that, I thought I would share it with you today.

November favourites

So the month of December had finally begun and after what was quite a horrible November, I couldn't be more excited. To say a final farewell to November I, of course, must tell you my favourites of the month.

Favourite Film:

Mockingjay Part one. In late November I went to the midnight screening of Mockingjay where they showed all three films and it was amazing. Catching Fire is still my favourite of the first three but I have been waiting for this film for so long and I'm so excited it's here.

Favourite TV show:

Video Game High School. I must admit that I did watch all three season of VGHS in a day and then had to look on YouTube for any behind the scenes. It was one of those shows that I felt like I shouldn't like but then I started watching and couldn't stop.

Favourite Book:

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I read this book in late October going into November so I think that it's alright to be included here. I absolutely loved Fangirl and read it a lot faster than I had imagined. The characters and story were so easy to relate to, it was funny and I'd definitely recommend it.

Favourite YouTube channel:

Tomska. I have only started watching Tom's videos recently and find that I don't want to laugh at most of what he does because I don't feel like I should find it funny but I really do. (You can see his channel here.)

Favourite YouTube video:

Philisnotonfire6. November brought round that time of the year for cat whiskers and a rather weird Q and A that was PINOF. I watch both Dan and Phil on YouTube but the videos where they're together are quite possibly my favourite thing ever. (You can see the video here and the bloopers video here.)

Favourite Song(s):
I just couldn't pick one song this month so I've gone for the top three I've been loving.
1. Sam Smith- I'm not the only one
2. Carrie Hope Fletcher- The Way We Were
3. Taylor Swift- Blank Space

Random Favourites:
Songs from Musicals
Particularly Les Mis, Hairspray and Annie.
Art Work
I have been doing a lot of art work for school in the past month and despite spilling ink on the favourite painting I did and getting nail varnish  all over one of the research pages, I've been really enjoying it.
The Beau Bloggers community
Late in November I joined a community on Google+ called Beau Bloggers. I've really loved seeing all the other members blogs and YouTube channels and sharing my own over there.
This has been my November favourites and I just wanted to mention today that I'm sorry I don't have a schedule for my blog posts and I've maybe gone a week or so this month without writing one. Everything has been very busy and I share my laptop with the rest of my family who need it a lot too so I don't get chance to write as much as I would like. I did really want to take part in Blogmas but I knew that was a promise I couldn't keep. That's all for now. Hope to see you next time, Bye.

November Shopping Haul

I'm not very big on shopping and I never tend to enjoy it but I received some money for my birthday that I thought I'd go and spend. Honestly I spent more money than I had hoped but I'm quite happy with what I bought so here we go:

First I bought a pair of Black skinny jeans from Primark (£11.00), a pair of thick black leggings from H and M (£7.99) and a plain black cardigan from Primark for £8.00 (not shown in picture). I only realised now how many black clothes I bought and already owned which may not be such a great thing.

Three pairs of black ankle socks (£2.00). I had to buy these which are actually extra thick at the bottom because they're for exercise which is not something I'll be doing, I just had to buy socks with some way to know which belong to my sister and which are mine.

Next I bought this brown, small satchel bag from H and M for £19.99 . This was the only bag I found that I liked and I felt like a really needed a new bag because I've been carrying round a bright green, Adventure Time bag which isn't even slightly subtle.

The last clothing things I bought were this red plaid shirt from H and M (£12.99) and a black dress with three quarter length sleeves (£12.99).

Finally I went into Waterstones which is probably the most important part of the day and I bought three books which are Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling, Grace's Guide by Grace Helbig and The Taming of the Tights by Louise Rennison. I am, quite obviously, very excited to read these books soon as I've wanted these three for a very long time.

That was my shopping haul from a few days ago. Comment below if you've read any of these books and let me know if they're good. That's all for now. Hope to see you next time, bye.

Birthday Haul

It was my Birthday last week and today I thought I would share with you some of the presents I got.

So starting with probably the main thing, I was given an Iphone 5c which was definitely something I needed as my old phone was barely even making calls anymore.

My Next presents are this toy dinosaur from my parents (toy dinosaurs have just become something they get me every year now), a Marvel comics advent calendar from my brother and a hand held mirror and drinking cup from Paperchase.

What I'd tell Erin this time last year

It was my birthday yesterday and I'd planned on writing this post then but didn't find the time. So here we are instead today and I thought I would share with you a few of things I would like to say to a year younger me. I'd like to tell younger Erin some of things I wish I had known or the things I wish I did differently.

1. Don't work too hard towards the end of the school year. I know you felt like you needed to (and honestly you did) but it was completely draining and you will regret not letting yourself have a break. Of course working is important but it took over all your time because you were convinced everything was going to go badly. Just remember you can do the same amount of work if you concentrate more than if you worked all of the time.

2.  Do not eat the birthday cake. As much as you want to, it will make you feel like you can't breath because you just had your tonsils out and it affects how you can eat. So please just don't do it.

3. Say yes to more of the things people ask you. Go out as much as you can and be with people. Don't stay at home instead because you've nearly finished a season of Gossip Girl.

4. Try to talk to people more even though it's difficult because soon you're going to feel like you can't even try anymore. And trust me when I say that you will be happier in a years time if you do.

5. Know that it doesn't get easier, if anything life gets a whole lot harder, but it also become more simple (if that makes sense). I'd like you to know that you do start talking about all the problems you have and it changes you but sadly I can't tell you if it's for the better just yet.

6. Be honest with your friends and all the other people that are asking questions because it's going to be a lot less complicated than you think. (And carrying on from that, stop telling people that "it's complicated" if they ask you whats been wrong. It's just annoying so stop doing it.)

Sorry if none of those life tips for me a year ago made any sense or if they were all just a little sad. But I hope you enjoyed them. I will be back soon with What I got for my Birthday and hopefully what I bought with the money from my birthday so this will probably become a very haul filled month (hope that's okay). That's all for now. Hope to see you next time, bye

October Favourites

I know it's a little earlier than usual but I decided to tell you my October favourites today. So here we go with my third monthly favourites:

Favourite Film:

The Art Of Getting By. If I'm honest, I only watched three films this month. I've wanted to see this film for a really long time and recently found it on Netflix. I loved this film and I do think that has something to do with how much I love Freddie Highmore.

Jewellery Collection

I apologise that it's been a while since I've written but I'm back now and I thought I would share with you my little jewellery collection. So here we go:

I have some of my jewellery on this black tree holder which i got for Christmas a few years ago. I also keep some pieces inside this wooden elephant box which i got for my birthday a while back.

September Favourites

Here we go with my September favourites:

Favourite Film:

Submarine. This film came out years ago and I always wanted to see it but never got the chance. It was only this month I got to see it and I absolutely love this film now.

Favourite TV show:

The Mindy Project. I've found that after a few series, comedy shows go a little down hill but The Mindy project definitely hasn't. It's constantly funny and there's not an episode I don't enjoy.

Favourite Book:

Looking for Alaska. Honestly I haven't finished this book yet but I'm loving it so far. Once I have finished I will write a review which will probably be in the next week or two.

Favourite YouTube channel:

Dan and Phil Games. Yes it is another Dan and Phil channel for my monthly favourites but they started this channel in September and I couldn't not mention it. All the videos are hilarious and the more Phan, the better.

Favourite YouTube video:

Super Brainy Zombies. Another short film that I have been obsessed with. The cast is amazing and the script is hilarious. You can see it here.

Favourite Song:

Day Affair by Bethan Mary Leadley. I have been listening to this song on repeat this month. I love Bethan's music and her YouTube channel. The video for Day affair makes the song even better and you can see it here.

Random Favourites:
Pinterest

Watching old episodes of Glee

Favourite Quote-
It never gets easier you just get stronger

That's been my September favourites I hope you liked them. You can see August here. Comment below some of your favourites from this month. That's all for now, hope to see you next time. Bye
